Katy Perry recommends Jelly Roll as her 'American Idol' replacement

As Katy Perry enjoys her final season as a judge on American Idol , the Pop star is thinking ahead to who she thinks should fill her vacancy on the panel next season.

During a recent interview with E! News , Perry shared she believed 39-year-old Rocker-turned-Country singer, Jelly Roll , would make a great judge on the show... along with any other role he put his mind to.

"I gotta say, Jelly Roll was crazy when he came on the show,” she said. "I was convinced at anything he said. He could run for president, he could be my pastor, I might go back to church for him. He could sell me anything."

In addition to his likability, Perry believes he has what it takes to be honest with the contestants without worrying about other people’s opinions. "I want a truth teller," she said of her main hope of a replacement. "I want someone that is not afraid to tell the truth in a graceful way…  just someone that has a strong sense of self, that listens to their intuition.”

Idol fans got to see Jelly Roll try his hand at the show as he stepped in as a mentor for half of Season 22’s top 24 as they performed at Disney’s Aulani in hopes of making it to the top 20. He also performed his current single, “Halfway to Hell.”

No word yet on who is really being considered as Perry replacement, or how much of a say she actually has in it. However, according to Perry,  she’s not worried one bit as she believes anyone who joins her fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will find great success.
