Ashanti reveals she's expecting a baby with fiancé Nelly

Ashanti and Nelly are having a baby — and they’re engaged!

Expecting their first child together, an additional congratulations are in order to the couple, who also announced their engagement, as Ashanti revealed to Essence .

Recently talking to the publication, the singer shared, “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation. Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”

While the new arrival will be the first baby for Ashanti , Nelly is already dad to son Cornell III and daughter, Chanelle, and also helped raise his niece Sydney and nephew Shawn after his sister, Jackie Donahue died of leukemia in March 2005.

Ashanti and Nelly began dating back in 2003, keeping their relationship relatively private until they ultimately broke up in 2013. The two then seemed to have rekindled their romance in 2023.

In an interview with Love and Hip Hop ‘s Rasheeda and Kirk Frost in September, Nelly confirmed the couple was back together. "It wasn't anything that we planned. We both were pretty much doing what we do,” he explained. “But sometimes, being separate, you understand one another more," he added of the 10-year break in their relationship. “You could be like, 'Well yo, let me exactly see maybe what they see.' We all can be defensive sometimes in our own relationships. We know we wrong but we going to stand on it, you know what I mean? But we all a victim to that.”
