Infiniti is among the sportiest of the premium Asian automakers. Its position as Nissan's upscale partner allows it to dip into the motorsports heritage of the parent company, and that shows up in the QX60 SUV.

Unlike many other midsize SUVs, the QX60 feels different from the moment you slide in behind the steering wheel. The QX60 drives like a sporty compact SUV, while offering seating for six passengers in three rows. Even with all three rows in use, you'll get 14.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, or up to 75 cubic feet with all the rear seats folded down.

The interior of the QX60's top Autograph trim level is pure luxury, with soft caramel-colored leather throughout. The front seats are heated and ventilated, and offer a relaxing massage function. The second row seats are also heated, making the QX60 a comfortable family vehicle for Portland winters. Even the dash is soft quilted leather. One thing to mention is that the driver's compartment layout is also convenient and smartly laid out.

From the outside, the QX60 looks about like every other midsize SUV. It blends in, so if you want to stand out, you'll need to choose a bright color. Yet there's nothing wrong with the looks of this

crossover, it's just not built to be showy.

Under the hood, you'll find Nissan's 3.5-liter V6 engine, which has been made for decades and is rock-solid with 295 horsepower. The 9-speed transmission keeps the engine in its sweet spot, and delivers excellent performance even though the QX60 weighs in at a hefty 4,657 pounds. Fuel economy is OK at 20 MPG in the city and 25 on the highway, but this is a midsize SUV, and that's easy to forget when you're driving.

On the road, the QX60 is a larger SUV that you can cheerfully drive every day. The suspension is firm yet compliant, and the steering is precise. It's easy to love driving the QX60 because it does everything well. Also, it's quiet inside no matter what's happening outside.

The price of the QX60 is on par with other premium brands, but what you're getting is the driving experience. If that matters to you, then the Infiniti dealer should move to the top of your test-drive list. You won't be disappointed in the 2024 QX60.
