Before there was “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” the famous California town appeared regularly on television screens thanks to the hit show “Beverly Hills, 90210.”
Now, one of the stars of the Fox drama is calling out “Real Housewives” producer Andy Cohen, asking why she can’t appear on the reality show.
Tori Spelling, who played Donna Martin for ten seasons on “90210,” took to the mic and shared on her podcast, “misSPELLING,” that fans regularly approach her asking why she hasn’t joined “The Real Housewives.”
“I’m like, I don’t know” she said before noting that she once asked Cohen why she hasn’t been cast. “He was like ‘yeah, we keep getting this question’ and I’m like ‘so Andy, what’s the answer?’”
Spelling said Cohen told her he doesn’t see her on the show, but she rebutted that she is friends with “every single” cast member and has a history with them and the area in which they film.
“Wasn’t I the OG Beverly Hills? I don't understand,” she mused before admitting that “what I really want to say to him, and I’m a little passive aggressive, so I’m like, ‘huh! All the fans ask, Andy, so I don’t know, whatever that's fine.’ What I wanted to say is, ‘is it ‘cause I’m broke? Let’s be real.’”
Spelling has been open about her financial struggles, going so far as to say she is “not good with money” on a recent episode of the podcast .
Though Spelling hasn’t been asked to be on the show, another ‘90s Fox star recently shared that she was offered a spot but turned it down.
Christina Applegate, who played Kelly Bundy on “Married… With Children” for eleven seasons, revealed on the latest episode of her podcast, “Messy,” that she was asked to be on the Bravo show.
She said “they asked me to be one [of the Housewives] 10 years ago” but claims that she wouldn’t have been a great addition to the show.
“I wouldn't have shown up to any dinners. I would have been in my sweatpants and I’d be laying in bed. What fun is that?” she asked before admitting she “would be the worst Housewife.”
