Work will begin this week at Cole Park as part of the Country Club Way bicycle and pedestrian improvement project, Tempe officials said.

The Cole Park work will include installing landscape irrigation and plants along the Country Club Way path just north of Carson Drive, according to a release.

Detours signs will direct pedestrians and park users around the closure to be able to access the remainder of the park, the release stated.

The overall project stretches from US 60 to north of Warner Road, following along the ASU Research Park, Country Club Way, Shutterfly Way and Watson Drive.

It includes a 10-foot-wide concrete path, an equestrian path (Warner Road to Elliot Road), landscaping, lighting, a shade structure and a pedestrian-activated signal at Warner Road.

The on-street portions will see new bike lanes, crosswalks and sidewalk ramps and pavement resurfacing, according to the release.

The path is closed from Elliot to Warner roads, but sidewalks on Elliot and Warner remain open as a detour around the closure, city officials said.
