A television show set to be partially filmed in Young County has been delayed again due to forecasted poor weather conditions.

The upcoming TV show “Landman,” produced by Paramount Pictures, has been set to film scenes from the opening episode of their show on a portion of Hwy. 16 between Loving and Graham.

After already dealing with a delay due to rain and stormy weather around the first set of dates the road would be closed, the company had reset their schedule. However, the dates the road will be closed have been pushed back.

In a new update to the filming schedule, the portion of Hwy. 16 from Turtle Hole Road to Oliver Lane will have intermittent traffic control Monday, May 6 and then be closed from Tuesday, May 7 through Wednesday, May 15.

The road will have intermittent traffic control Thursday, May 16 and will reopen for two days. The road will then be closed again from Sunday, May 19 through Tuesday, May 21, with intermittent traffic control Wednesday, May 22 before the production officially clears out.

During the time of the road closures, truck and commercial travelers’ primary detour option will be Red Top Road, also known as FM 2652, between Graham and Hwy. 114. For local, non-commercial vehicles, detour signs will be placed on Hwy. 16 to direct traffic on side roads around the closure.

“It’s definitely going to be a two-week inconvenience for everyone,” Young County Judge Win Graham said at a commissioners court meeting April 8. “But hopefully when it’s all said and done it’ll be something that we’re all proud of and creates a little Young County buzz afterwards.”
