    Park Falls closes TID3

    2024-04-25

The Park Falls Common Council has reorganized with new leadership and committee appointments for 2024. Alderwoman Dixie Weidman was elected as the council president by her peers.

The council approved the closing of Tax Increment Financing District No. 3. The “TID3” encompassed 30.84 acres of the Park Falls Industrial Park from downtown to the north side. The TID3 was approved in 1997 and revised in 2000.

Over the next few months the approximately $450,000 remaining in the TID3 will be transferred into the new TID5 district, according to city Administrator Brentt Michalek. TID5 stretches from the former Shopko store in the south, to the new housing developments on Ninth Street North across from Weathershield.

The council also approved the Safe Streets and Roads for All plan that is now available for public review. The utility project occurring over summer will close a water loop and add sewer to lots on River Road, according to Shannon Greenwood, city executive assistant. The plan also upgraded older water and sewer lines on Heritage Lane and First Avenue North, along with smaller projects in the city to include First Avenue South.

The council approved the A-1 Excavating bid as the lowest responsible bidder. The bid was approximately $150,000 lower than four other bidding contractors.

A-1 Excavating also performed the recent work on Boettcher Road, County E, and the 2023 Water Utility Improvement Project. The work on the summer plan will start in May with substantial completion by the end of October, according to Greenwood. Roads will not be open to through traffic during construction, but will be accessible to local traffic.
