Where Can I Still Ski in California and Nevada?
By Quintin Mills,

Most people get seasonal depression in the winter when the days are short and the sun is reclusive, but I bet some of you readers out there feel the opposite.
Some seasons more than others, I feel a pit of sadness when I throw my skis into the dark depths of my closet, not to see them again for another few months.

Yes, a lot of resorts have closed around Tahoe and the rest of California and Nevada, but there are quite a few still hanging on for the last sunny turns of the season.
California
Palisades Tahoe:
Closing day at Alpine is this Sunday (4/28), and the Palisades side will remain open through Memorial Day.
Saturday at Alpine is the 38th Annual Snow Golf Tournament that starts at the top of the Summit Express with a Caddyshack themed after party and live music.
Palisades will also be hosting a few more events through the spring, including the legendary Cushing Crossing , which will take place on May 4. Closing weekend will also have the Made in Tahoe Festival .
Mammoth Mountain:
Mammoth will also be open through Memorial Day with a few more events happening to close out the season. Last year after the record snowfall they were open until August 6, insanity.
May 3 they are hosting the World Quarterpipe Championships , and they just opened the Unbound Terrain Parks for the public after the Level 1 SuperUnknown riders were throwing down on it for a week.
The Mammoth Yacht Club will be back again this year for closing day. Show up in your most seaworthy fits and enjoy live music, drinks, boat races, and giveaways.
Kirkwood Ski Resort:
Kirkwood’s last day will also be this Sunday (4/28). One of the best resorts in California for spring skiing, and they still have over half their terrain still open.
One of two resorts still open in Nevada, Mt. Rose is one of the highest ski resorts around Lake Tahoe. The snow tends to stick up there, and they’ll be having their pond skim on Slide Side Saturday.
Sugar has been having a killer year with good snow and so manysick events, like The Silver Belt Classic and Jib League. They have their pond skim on Saturday along with an Arc'teryx Cap Crusade , and closing day is Sunday.
Southwest of Mammoth, China Peak is located in Sierra National Forest. Closing day is Sunday, and there’s still time to renew your CaliPass by April 30 for the best deal for next year.
Mt. Blady:
Proclaimed as SoCal’s real skiing, Mt. Baldy is open for one more bonus weekend. There’s some good steeps here. I recommend checking it out when the whole mountain is open too.
Dodge Ridge:
One more bonus weekend for Dodge Ridge after getting over 370 inches this year in total snowfall. It should be a blast up there this weekend with live music, giveaways, and sunny weather.
The other Nevada resort on this list, except they’re 430 miles away from each other. Located just outside of Vegas, Lee Canyon will be open through 4/29 with tickets as low as $19. Bluebird will be the only lift open from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M.
The season’s coming to an end, but that’s no excuse to miss this weekend. All over California and Nevada there’s still tons of skiing options. Oh yea, I didn’t even mention the backcountry either.
