J.M. Biggs: Get serious about the word of God

Today I want to speak to you about two serious matters you will somewhat find hard to receive.

First, I want to speak to you about the little children. Satan — through evil people and circumstances — is destroying, even killing our little children. I’ve touched on this subject before, but no one seems to get it.

God is using little children in these last days. No one, even the church, seems to care about it. He’s using them because they are innocent. The scripture says: “Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings are perfect praise.”

Get your little children to church before it’s too late. If they can’t get to church, read the Bible to them and tell them about Jesus. You will be so glad you did.

Second, I want to talk to you about the word of God. Nowadays, people are looking forward to going to church every Sunday and fellowshipping with each other. They will never survive.

The saints must start going to church every Sunday looking forward to fellowshipping with our Lord. That is a big difference. To succeed, you can’t do what you want, only what the Lord wants.

Some may say, “How do we know what the Lord wants?” Most would respond, “Read the word.” But only reading the word is not enough. I know that it has been taught, that everything you need is in the word. That’s true. But people will never read the word and get a total understanding of everything they need.

A lot of people don’t even pick up their Bible until they go to church. It would take an eternity to get everything from it. When we get to heaven, we will be taught the Bible throughout eternity. We could read the word every day, fast and pray, but never get close to understanding everything in the word of God.

God is never-ending and so is the word. That is why when people say, “Show it to me in the Bible,” I laugh. Some will even tell you that something is not in the Bible. Remember when Jesus was fasting 40 days and 40 nights, being tempted by the devil? The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the son of God, command these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:3-4.

The devil was trying to trick the Lord with the word. The devil knows the word almost as well as Jesus Christ.

Most saints take that scripture to mean natural bread. Jesus was talking about spiritual bread (the word of God). This is what he was saying: Man shall not live by the word alone, but every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Why? Because the word is never-ending. We will never get a total understanding of the word.
