    Central Texas Football standouts find their NFL homes during draft weekend

    DETROIT, MI ( FOX 44 ) — A group of football standouts with Central Texas connections now have their new homes in the NFL following the league’s three-day draft that ended on Saturday.

    The players who heard their names called during the 2024 NFL Draft are:

    • Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper – Green Bay Packers (2nd round pick, No. 45 overall)
    • Texas A&M defensive lineman McKinnley Jackson – Cincinnati Bengals (3rd round pick, No. 97 overall)
    • Texas A&M offensive lineman Layden Robinson – New England Patriots (4th round pick, No. 103 overall)
    • Temple Wildcat tight end Jared Wiley – Kansas City Chiefs (4th round pick, No. 131 overall)
    • Texas A&M wide receiver Ainias Smith – Philadelphia Eagles (5th round pick, No. 152 overall)

    Meanwhile, the players who went undrafted, but signed with NFL franchises are:

    • Baylor linebacker Byron Vaughns (Dallas Cowboys)
    • Baylor center Clark Barrington (Las Vegas Raiders)
    • Baylor defensive lineman Gabe Hall (Philadelphia Eagles)
    • Baylor defensive lineman TJ Franklin (Las Vegas Raiders)
    • Texas A&M defensive back Demani Richardson (Carolina Panthers)
    • Texas A&M defensive back Josh DeBerry (Dallas Cowboys)
    • Texas A&M defensive back Sam Mathews (Chicago Bears)
