In a recent interview on The Fort Report , President of Communities United for Justice , Richard Rose , shed light on the ongoing lawsuit of 2022 and the subsequent appeal that followed. The 11th Circuit Court has yet to make a ruling on the appeal, leaving the fate of the case hanging in the balance. Despite expectations for a decision by December 2022, the process has been plagued by delays, reminiscent of other high-profile cases in recent years.

Mr. Rose expressed frustration with the slow progress of the appeal, likening it to the drawn-out legal battles seen in the Trump administration. The delay in the court's decision has raised questions about the motives behind the prolonged timeline, with some speculating that it may be a deliberate effort to maintain the status quo and allow the Public Service Commission to continue its operations unchecked.

The lawsuit, filed in 2020, aims to challenge the influence of utilities on the Public Service Commission and the impact it has on consumers. With utilities able to establish political action committees and employees making contributions to PSC candidates, the system has become increasingly skewed in favor of corporate interests over those of the general public.

Throughout the interview, Mr. Rose and his team emphasized the importance of this lawsuit in restoring power to the voters and holding the Public Service Commission accountable for its actions. By shining a light on the influence of money in politics and the detrimental effects it has on everyday consumers, they hope to bring about much-needed change and ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.

As the lawsuit continues to navigate the legal system, Mr. Rose remains optimistic that a decision will be reached in the near future. With pressure mounting on the appeals court and calls for action from the Supreme Court, there is hope that justice will prevail and voters will be able to reclaim their voice in the upcoming elections.
