A single vehicle collision in Greenville County Friday killed three women from Georgia. The noon-time crash occurred near the Staunton Bridge Road over I-85 near mile marker 42.

Investigators said the SUV was speeding on the northbound side of 85 when it ran off the road, up an embankment, through the cement bridge abutment then crossing over all 4 lanes of traffic. The SUV finally came to a stop after it went through some trees on the other side of the roadway and down another embankment.

Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis said three Georgia women Manisha Rajendra Patel, Sangita Bhavnesh Patel and Rekhaben Dilip Patel were killed in the crash. One other person was injured and taken to a hospital. No word on their condition or any charges so far.
