Jelly Roll was the talk of the weekend after taking the stage for his very first performance at Stagecoach, the world’s largest Country music festival. Kicking off the weekend with a high-energy set on Friday night set ahead of headliner, Eric Church , the 39-year-old further proved the big stage is exactly where he belongs.

“I have this weird thing that happens to me in really big moments where I can’t tell what’s happening,” Jelly told Audacy’s Kelli & Guy of KFRG the day following his set. “We had a little break in the set where I walked over to side stage and I looked at her [wife, Bunnie ] and my kid [ Bailey ] and even before I got there — they know me so well — they both had two thumbs up.”

His captivating performance was just the beginning of an epic weekend for the Nashville-native who told Audacy’s John and Tammy of KSON that he planned to stay all weekend and “be a fan,” which most artists don’t typically get to do. “I’m such a nerd, I’m stayin’ all weekend,” he said with a smile. “Most people hurry in and out and I’m like, ‘You’re crazy! I’m going to get drunk and be a fan!'”

That’s exactly what he did with a few appearances here and there as he hopped on stage with Nickelback during their late-night performance on Friday, cooked burgers with Guy Fieri , and even sang “I’ll Fly Away” alongside Willie Nelson , Lukas Nelson , Ernest , and Charley Crockett during Willie’s set on Saturday afternoon.

“There’s a video that now exists of Willie Nelson, his son Lukas Nelson, Ernest, Charley Crockett and Jelly Roll singing ‘I’ll Fly Away’ together. How crazy is that,” he exclaimed with pride.

No moment from the weekend was taken for granted by Jelly, who makes a point to appreciate the special moments after a troubled past. Perhaps one of the things that makes him most relatable, Jelly remains focused on his goal to help people from juvenile delinquents to long-time addicts by speaking to them through his lyrics, actions, and powerful mid-set motivational speeches.

“I love people, I love hearing stories,” he shared. “It inspires me and encourages me… I know what the impact I have on people is.” With that, Jelly also knows his limits and when asked when he plans to start his own church, he laughed.

“God’s still got a lot of work to do with me before I do that,” he laughed before sharing he’s open to branching out in other ways — like a scripted television series based on his story from jail to music stardom.

“What my dream is, is to get into scripted television,” he said when asked about the possibility of a reality television show featuring him and beloved wife, Bunnie. “I think that’d be cool, if we told our story in like, a 10-part series.” He also said a duet would be “realistic.”

Television seems to be calling Jelly’s name as Katy Perry recently suggested he replace her on the next season of American Idol . "I gotta say, Jelly Roll was crazy when he came on the show,” she said in a recent interview with E! News . "I was convinced at anything he said. He could run for president, he could be my pastor, I might go back to church for him. He could sell me anything."

So what was Jelly Roll’s reaction? “Of Course!” He laughed when asked if he’d hypothetically consider it. “I’ve considered the job and they haven’t offered it,” he laughed.

As far as we’re concerned, there’s nothing off limits for the “Son of A Sinner,” singer. Hear more from Jelly by checking out his interviews with Kelli & Guy as well as John & Tammy above.
