Fox Business anchor Ashley Webster spoke to two Fox pundits on Monday about South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R) writing about shooting a puppy in her book, both of whom agreed the media fallout from sharing the story spells political doom for the Republican.

“This has been getting a lot of conversations and is defending itself against critics who are outraged about this story and an upcoming memoir where she talks about killing her dog on her family farm. She said, on X, quote, ‘All right. I can understand why some people are upset about a 20-year-old story of Cricket.’ That’s the name of the dog. ‘South Dakota law states that dogs who attack and kill livestock can be put down. Given the cricket had shown aggressive behavior toward people by biting them, I decided what I did.’ What a terrible idea. Whoever came up with, ‘yeah, put that story in, Kristi. People will love it,’” Webster began.

Fox media analyst Joe Concha replied, “This story, Ashley, as a dog owner my whole life, it absolutely makes my blood boil.”

“On two levels. One. How utterly heartless do you have to be to shoot a 14-month-old dog in the face? Because look, if it wasn’t doing its job on the farm, or is attacking chicken or people, okay, you’re a public figure, or at least you have a platform in some way, shape, or form. Even if you’re a private citizen, you very easily could have posted somewhere, ‘I’m putting my dog up for adoption because maybe it’s not working out here on the ranch,’ and I can guarantee you many people would have raised their hand to take that dog in,” Concha fumed, adding:

You don’t just go ahead and murder it. And can someone explain to your point, by the way, what editor thought it was a good idea to share this in a book? Because I’ll say this she just destroyed any chance she had of being Donald Trump’s vice president, if she had any chance at all. There’s no going back from this.

I mean, just ask Mitt Romney. You know, the multimillionaire thought it was a really good idea to put his dog on a roof of a car for 12 hours. That story sticks with him to this day for good reason. She can try to talk her way out of this all she wants. I’m sorry, you don’t shoot dogs in the face. I don’t care what they’ve done.

Webster replied, “Amen, Joe Concha, I’m a lifelong dog lover. Have always been. You are spot on. I have to leave it there. But thank you so much, Joe. Bringing the fire. Come back in here quickly, Jason Chaffetz said. Look, Jason, you’re a recovering politician. Why would Noem release something like this? What an era of judgment.”

Former GOP Congressman Chaffetz (R-UT) replied, “Because she actually did it. So I give her a A-plus for being honest about it, but she just destroyed her political career. I don’t think there’s anybody on any side of the aisle, any human being that thinks it’s acceptable to go to a gravel pit and shoot a dog in the face and kill it when it’s 14 months old. That’s. I mean, that’s just hideous. So she’s done politically, and I’m a friend of hers . I served with her, but politically, there’s no recovering from this .”

“What a horrible story. Bottom line, Jason, thank you very much,” Webster said concluding the segment.
