Host Sangita Myska To Leave LBC As Station Breaks Silence On Her Absence

Host Sangita Myska will leave LBC at the end of her two year contract, the station said, in an announcement that comes after viewers raised concerns over her absence.

The news was shared at the foot of a press release welcoming former TalkTV host Vanessa Feltz to the station, where she will pick up a show broadcasting on Saturday afternoon, taking an overlapping time slot that would have formerly been occupied by Myska’s fixture.

Senior managing editor Tom Cheal said: “We’d like to thank Sangita for her fantastic contribution to LBC and we wish her every success in the future.”

Viewer speculation peaked after Myska had been conspicuously absent from her usual slot since a fiery April 15th interview with Israeli government spokesman Avi Hyman.

During the exchange, which in part focused on Iran’s drone attack on Israel, Myska described to Hyman Iran’s justification of their actions as a retaliation for an Israeli airstrike on a consulate in Syria, which he described as an “outrageous framing of the reality.” The Israeli official, shaking his head, said the target was an Iranian military site, not a consular building as reported by some outlets.

Since the interview, Myska had not been on air, nor scheduled for upcoming slots, sparking rumours and concern among her audience. Her last public comment was a heartfelt “Miss you all too x” on X, in response to a listener’s message.

Industry colleagues also expressed their concern, including Channel 4’s international editor Lindsay Hilsum who asked: “What’s the explanation?”

Viewers went on to create an online petition demanding Myska’s return, which has garnered almost 25,000 signatures, praising her as a “professional and thorough journalist” who was essential for delivering critical perspectives at LBC.

With Feltz preparing to launch her show on Saturday May 4th and Myska’s first show having been on June 11th 2022, it appears that the journalist has been put on gardening leave – which may make sense of her rather cryptic Instagram post from April 21:

Mediaite UK reached out to LBC on two occasions regarding Myska’s absence but did not receive a response.
