ConSup North America Inc. recalled approximately "85,984 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) sliced prosciutto ham product " on April 24th due to lack of inspection. According to the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service , the meat, produced in Germany, did not receive "equivalent inspection" before being distributed to the U.S.

    The affected product was packaged in plastic bags that read “Stockmeyer PROSCIUTTO Product of GERMANY” with lot codes including: " 09118-3A, 09118-3B, 09120-3A, 09120-3B, 13133-3A, 13133-3B, 13104-3A, 13104-3B, 13105-3A, 13105-3B, 13109-3A and 13109-3B " and best before dates " 4/28/2024, 5/26/2024, 7/7/2024, 8/4/2024, 8/11/2024 and 10/7/2024 ."

The sliced prosciutto ham was produced from September 2023 through March 2024 and was shipped to retail locations across America including stores in Pennsylvania.

Per the U.S. FSIS , Germany's Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety were first to discover that the affected lots did not receive equivalent inspection before being distributed to the U.S. As of April 30th, no illnesses were reported as a result of consuming the sliced prosciutto ham product. Officials are urging anyone who believes they are experiencing side effects as a result of consuming meat (from one of the lot codes mentioned above) to contact their healthcare provider.

Consumers who purchased any of the aforementioned products, should avoid consumption and throw the product out immediately.
