ORANGE COUNTY, FL — According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a tragic accident occurred early Tuesday morning, May 1, 2024, on State Road 528 near the Florida Turnpike intersection, resulting in the death of a 34-year-old woman from Orlando.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 8:32 AM at mile marker 5. A 2024 Hyundai Tucson, driven by the deceased woman, was traveling westbound in the outside lane when it collided with a 2015 Ford F-750 box truck, also traveling in the same direction.

The box truck, operated by a 38-year-old Orlando man, had stopped due to traffic ahead. Reports indicate that the driver of the Hyundai attempted to avoid the collision by swerving to the right but was unable to prevent the left front of her vehicle from striking the right rear of the box truck. Despite being secured with a seatbelt, the impact was fatal for the Hyundai driver, who was pronounced dead after being transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The driver and a 33-year-old male passenger from Kissimmee in the Ford truck were unharmed and remained at the scene. Both were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

The next of kin for the deceased has been notified. The crash is still under investigation by local authorities, who are examining the circumstances that led to this fatal outcome. Traffic was significantly affected in the area as investigations and cleanup took place.
