Emma Braford, a Grand Rapids High School senior, is a shining example of the opportunities available through the school's Natural Resources and Agriculture Career Pathway. Her experiences go beyond the classroom, showcasing a passion for wildlife, leadership, and perseverance.

Emma's involvement in FFA led her to collaborate with students from another school to tackle a critical issue: substance abuse. Recognizing the importance of after-school programs in fostering self-esteem and belonging, they worked tirelessly to advocate for increased funding. Their efforts culminated in a successful bill that will distribute after-school program grants to schools across Minnesota.

While her commitment to FFA is evident, Emma's academic pursuits are equally impressive. Her favorite class, Woodland Stewardship, provided valuable hands-on experience in forestry management. This, combined with her lifelong love of wildlife, solidified her desire to pursue a career in natural resources.

For students unsure of their future path, Emma offers a compelling message "As long as you just keep persisting, you'll get somewhere!" The Natural Resources Career Pathway provides a unique opportunity to discover interests and build a strong foundation for future endeavors.

Emma's own future is bright. She plans to attend the University of Minnesota Crookston, majoring in natural resources with a specialization in wildlife management. However, her six-month plan holds an exciting twist. She is also enlisted in the Army National Guard, with basic training scheduled for July. If she is not elected as a Minnesota FFA state officer, she will embark on this training. If she is elected, her commitment will shift to fulfilling her FFA duties while pursuing her studies.

Emma's story is an inspiration. Her dedication to wildlife conservation, advocacy, and personal growth highlights the power of the Natural Resources and Agriculture Career Pathway at Grand Rapids High School. It empowers students to explore their passions and chart a course for a fulfilling future.
