    Milton golfers edge Janesville Craig for Beloit Invitational title

    BELOIT — Milton’s golfers came out on top in a battle with Janesville Craig in the 43rd annual Beloit Invitational golf tournament at Krueger-Haskell Golf Course on Friday.

    Milton finished with a score of 296 for a three-shot victory over Janesville Craig (299).

    DeForest finished third at 312, followed by Fort Atkinson (316), Big Foot (325), Madison Memorial 326), Elkhorn (338), Sun Prairie West (338), Madison West (339), Sun Prairie East (341), Madison La Follette (343), Janesville Parker (348), Beloit Turner (358), Monroe (359), Watertown (370), Wilmot (383), Delavan-Darien (349), Parkview (394), Burlington (400) and Brodhead (423).

    Host Beloit Memorial did not field a complete team.

    Brothers Brett and Kade Wieland both fired a round of 69 to top the individual leaderboard and lead Milton to the title. Craig’s Easton Haworth tied for fourth with Fort Atkinson’s Mason Burke at 72 strokes.

    The top score among Turner, Parkview and Brodhead players was a 79 by Trojans senior Ethan Hale, good enough for a tie for 16th place.

    Other Turner scores were Cole Rowald (91), Byron Blum (94), Logan Tysse (94) and Dane Athens (96).

    Beloit Memorial’s Max and Marcus Allen both shot 84s.

    Parkview’s top score was a 90 by Maysen Wellnitz. Brodhead’s Nolan Oliver shot an 86.

    Beloit Memorial will compete in Madison in an invitational on Monday at Blackhawk Country Club.
