    Alamogordo High School Film Students Triumph at Lensic Future Voices Film Festival in Santa Fe

    Alamogordo High School is to be congratulated for having an active film class and an educational team that is committed to providing opportunities for these students. Alamogordo High School has had a robust program for the last several years.

    Film production and entertainment is a fast growing segment of industry within New Mexico. The fastest growing industry in the state of New Mexico is the film industry. Wage growth in the film industry in New Mexico is huge compared to the average wage of most Alamogordo workers. Median hourly wages for film industry workers increased to $35.51 in the past year, up 21%.

    Alamogordo High School students participated for the first time in the Lensic Future Voices Film Festival in Santa. The Lensic Future Voices Film program encourages students ages 12–18 across New Mexico to tell their stories through original photographs and short films. In partnership with Santa Fe Workshops, Future Voices provides high school and middle school students with the support they need to create high-quality projects that are judged ina year-end competition, all with cash prizes.

    Alamogordo High School students won in three categories. Five of the Alamogordo Tigers placed 1st and 2nd place in two different categories.

    Alamogordo High School first year film students researched the history and life of Elizabeth Garrett - daughter of famed western lawman, Pat Garrett - and discovered a compelling story. This documentary was a first place award winner at the 2024 Lensic Future Voices Film Festival in Santa Fe, NM.

    Alamogordo High School first year film student created this interesting documentary on the New Mexico Museum of Space History located in Southern NM.The film was an award winning documentary at the Lensic Future Voices Film Festival in Santa Fe 2024.
