Armstrong boys tennis took a busy run in stride last week with three wins against local opponents.

The week began with a 4-3 win for Armstrong against Rogers on April 30, improving the team’s record to 8-4 this season. Jacob Merriam, Ben Breitbach, Ben Bernloehr and Milosh Lindberg all won their singles matchups in a dominant showing. All but Merriam won in two sets. Merriam lost set one 7-5, but responded with strong 6-3 and 6-2 wins.

Rogers won all three doubles matchups, but not without a fight. All three required third sets for the Royals to win. Armstrong’s pairs were Luke Azoulay and Tristan Ehn, Adam Marable and Arie Wilschut, and Braeden Cooper and Brady Roering.

The Falcons then added a big 7-0 win over Spring Lake Park on May 1. Merriam beat Lucas Clauson 6-4 and 6-1. Breitbach beat Tanner Hunt 6-2 and 6-1. Bernloehr beat Brayden Samuelson 6-0 and 6-0, while Lindberg also beat Evan Mayne 6-0 and 6-0. The doubles pairs of Ehn and Doan, Azoulay and Cooper and London and Roering each won their matchups to wrap up the sweeping victory.

Armstrong closed the week out with a 5-2 win over Anoka on May 3 to complete a sweep of the week’s work.

All four singles players won their matchups in two sets. Anoka picked up two wins in doubles, but Azoulay and Matthew London combined for 6-4 and 7-6 (5) set wins over Anoka to widen the gap.

Armstrong ended the week with a 10-4 competitive record for the season thus far.
