Copperworks Distilling Co. , a craft spirits brand based out of Washington specializing in American Single Malts distilled from craft beer, vodka and gin, released three new whiskeys on April 24. The whiskeys are Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey Single Cask No. 22-2, Release 049 and Release 050. The first whiskey is made from the brand's Five Malt Recipe and spent seven years aging in one of the brand's American Single Malt casks. Release 049 and 050 are made from barley grown in Washington's Skagit Valley region. Copperworks released a
gin made with Washington plums in August. It hosted a lower proof and was designed for late summertime sipping. The Washington brand claims its spirits are distilled from copper stills made in Scotland, and each still fits the specs for each spirit. Copperworks Distilling Co. opened in 2013 and was founded by craft brewers Jason Parker and Micah Nutt, who wanted the answer to one question:
"How would spirits taste if they were distilled from superior craft beer (without the hops) instead of the typical methods of ingredients of conventional distillers?"
Those interested in purchasing these whiskeys can find them online at the Copperworks Distilling Co. website here .
