Kassi Ashton talks the power of good therapist: ‘I would give a lot of things up before I gave her up’

Chasing her dream of becoming a Country music star has been full of ups and downs for Audacy Launch artist, Kassi Ashton . Through the highest of highs and lowest of lows, the 30-year-old says being in therapy through it all has helped tremendously.

“I’ve been in therapy for six years [and] I love my therapist — I would give a lot of things up before I gave her up,” Ashton said before sharing just how much the work she’s put in has benefitted her. “I feel like I’m a completely different person than I was six years ago — socially, friendship-wise, how I handle things, how I react.”

While therapy is viewed as a positive thing by Ashton, she realized that’s not the norm as many people view asking for help as a sign of weakness.

“I feel like there’s such a negative stigma, that there’s something wrong with you if you go,” she said. “It’s just like, ‘Hey, there’s nothing wrong with me, I just have to learn how to navigate myself'… I’m like, ‘I go to make myself easier for me. I need help with me. I don’t want to be my own worst nightmare, I don’t want to be my own barrier to cross when the time comes.’”
