BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – It has been almost two weeks since we last received an update on crawfish prices in Louisiana. The wait has been worth it, as Laney King, co-founder of The Crawfish App, said the prices for boiled and live crawfish have gone down.

Customers can now get boiled crawfish for around $5.15 per pound and live crawfish for around $2.92 per pound.

These prices compare positively to the last update , when the average price for live crawfish was $2.99 per pound and boiled crawfish stood at $5.29 per pound.

According to King, with Mother’s Day around the corner, crawfish prices will be at their lowest point this season.

She said that crawfish prices usually go up around Mother’s Day but this year did not follow that trend.

“We can’t recall the last time crawfish prices dropped for Mother’s Day week,” says King. “Easter crawfish boils may have been a bust for many folks, but for Mother’s Day, you’ll pay about half of what you paid at Easter for a sack of crawfish. That’s a big deal for consumers.”

According to King, you can find a sack of live crawfish for $2.50 per pound in the area.
