OPINION: Supporting Melissa Fireside for Clackamas County commissioner, position 4

In the upcoming election for Clackamas County Commissioner, position 4, I wholeheartedly endorse Melissa Fireside. Her commitment to responsible land development and community distinguishes her as the clear choice for our county.

Fireside’s stance on limiting incompatible land development by speculators reflects her dedication to preserving our environment and quality of life. She has garnered broad support from local community organizations, who recognize her vision for sustainable growth and inclusive governance.

In contrast, Mark Shull’s record raises concerns. His part in the elimination of the County Diversity and Inclusion Department and support for massive industrial growth projects, including the expansion of the Aurora Airport, are alarming. Shull’s lack of endorsements from local community groups further underscores his misalignment with our values and priorities.

We need a commissioner who will champion the interests of all residents and safeguard our community’s future. Melissa Fireside is the candidate we can trust to lead Clackamas County forward with integrity and foresight.
