Vine + Grain at 414 K St., Suite 125 inside Downtown Commons (DOCO) , was recently purchased by SMIC’s owner and operator Paula Thompson . Thompson intends to turn the space into a new concept, Cabana Club, although is currently treating the previous upscale bar space as the temporary secondary location of her primary concept, SMIC’s . This news was first seen in Sacramento Business Journal .

Cabana Club is anticipated to open in mid Summer, according to Thompson in an email to What Now Sacramento. The space is currently operating as an extension of SMIC’s, Thompson’s primary concept, located at 1200 K St, Suite 8. Thompson will take this time to finalize rebranding details.

Thompson also plans to close the space for a few weeks to work on interior remodeling, which will feature “fresh, bright hues, funky details, and iconic Palm Springs vibes.” The designer for the upcoming space is Thompson’s twin sister, Natalie Thompson , who owns and operates the Sacramento-based design studio The Witching Post .

“I grew up in Palm Springs, with the gorgeous desert as my backdrop. It has always been a dream of mine to bring the fun, quirkiness and infinite beauty of the desert here, to Sacramento,” Thompson told What Now Sacramento in the email.

Cabana Club will serve small, sharable bites and various cocktails heavily influenced by the desert, such as Cactus Coolers. Currently, there are no plans for live entertainment. While Thompson did not disclose too many details for the upcoming concept, she mentioned that Cabana Club’s experience would be iconic.

“Just like fabulous travel destination that we all know and love. It will be Sacramento’s very first Palm Springs bar (from a gal who grew up there!) Something not currently offered and just really really fun,” Thompson said in the email.
