Hamburg, N.Y. (WBEN) - Albert the Alligator, seized from a Town of Hamburg home back in March, is at an alligator sanctuary in Beaumont, Texas.

Multiple reports say the 34-year-old, 750-pound gator underwent weeks of specialized care in Massachusetts. After showing substantial health improvement, the alligator was cleared to be moved South to Texas.

A statement from the State DEC says the alligator will continue to receive specialized care due to blindness and spinal conditions from "decades of inadequate treatment and care."
