Pierre Algood signed his letter of intent to play basketball with the Hesston College Larks in Hesston, Kansas on Tuesday, April 30.

“I’m very blessed and excited to be continuing not only my athletic career, but also my academic career,” Algood said. “I went to Hesston College on a visit and as I was being guided I felt comfortable and I got good vibes from it. The coaching staff made me feel comfortable, almost feeling like I was at home. I also am on board with the plan that the head basketball coach has for the future.”

Algood will be playing point guard and shooting guard for the Larks.

“I’m looking forward to the new basketball season and elevating my game to the next level and meeting new people,” Algood said.

Algood plans on studying electrical engineering and when he graduates college, he would love to become a pro basketball player “I am extremely proud of all the things that Pierre has accomplished. He is one of the best students we have had walkthrough Fairfield High School. He is a terrific kid and role model; that younger athletes and kids can look up to,” Coach Kris Ballew said. “I was lucky enough to witness it for all four years of high school. He has put in so much work to get where he is today. Pierre was here at 6:30 most mornings, stayed after practice, and attended open gym sessions on the weekend to continually improve his skill. I look forward to keeping up with his future accomplishments after all he has done for Fairfield.”

Algood started playing basketball at the age of five for the YMCA. He played with the YMCA until he was eight years old.

From ages 12-14, he played for Dew Junior High and from ages 14-18, he played for Fairfield High School. From ages 13-17, he also played for the Houston Dreamers travel team.

His high school basketball honors include 1st Team All-District three years, 2nd Team All-District one year, and Academic All-District all four years of high school.

Algood is a member of the Beta Club at FHS. In his freetime, he loves to practice basketball, watch youtube, play games, and practice piano.

Pierre is the son of David and Trishana Algood.

“My family and I appreciate everything that Fairfield has done for us,” Algood said.
