Disney Plus, Hulu, and Max Bundle Set to Launch This Year

Remember back in the days of cable television, when you had dozens of different, competing cable networks, each with different offerings? And then Netflix came along and disrupted the industry by hosting a lot of content from different networks all in one place. Then, streaming was fractured as content owners decided to launch their own streaming services, resulting in dozens of different, competing streaming networks.

On a completely unrelated note, Disney Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery have announced that, starting this year, you’ll be able to bundle Disney+, Hulu, and WB’s Max – formerly HBO Max – into one single subscription.

Announced in a press release from The Walt Disney Company, the new bundle will be available starting in the Summer, and will include all of the content across the three streaming services.

Disney says it will provide “an unprecedented selection of content,” with film and TV from ABC, CNN, DC, Discovery, Disney, Food Network, FX, HBO, HGTV, Hulu, Marvel, Pixar, Searchlight, Warner Bros., and “many more.” It’s hard to believe that just two companies own so much of the entertainment landscape, but that’s just how it is these days.

All three of the services will offer the subscription bundle, in both ad-supported and ad-free plans, so you won’t have to sign up for a new streaming service if you’ve already got one. The bundle will only be available in the US, which makes sense given most Hulu content is already available on Disney+ outside of the US.

It comes after Disney started offering a Disney+ and Hulu bundle in the US, which was launched in late-March. It also comes shortly after Disney+ and Hulu both started following Netflix’s lead on password sharing , cracking down on the use of one account across multiple households.

Curiously, the move will see both DC’s superhero film and TV shows – like The Batman, Peacemaker, and more – appearing alongside Marvel’s lineup of film and TV. The two comic universes are often pitted against each other by fans, but at the end of the day, having them both available in one place is probably a good thing overall.

No pricing information has been released as of the time of writing, nor has a firm release date, but Disney promises that additional details will be shared “in the coming months.”
