Squatted vehicles will soon be banned in Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss. ( WJTV ) – “Squatted vehicles” will soon be banned in Mississippi.

Governor Tate Reeves (R-Miss.) recently signed House Bill 349 , which goes into effect on July 1, 2024.

The bill addresses the issue of “squatted vehicles,” which are trucks or vehicles with front fenders raised four-inches or more higher than the rear fenders.

Officials with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) said violating this law will result in a misdemeanor, substantial fines, and potential license suspension.

“The main goal of this new law is to keep everyone safe on the roads and encourage safe and smart driving habits,” the department said. “Modifying vehicles in ways that affect visibility isn’t just risky for the driver but for everyone sharing the road. We will continue to keep safety our number one priority!”
