NORTH PORT — A new temporary maintenance facility is coming to Dallas White Park.

The North Port Parks & Recreation Department announced the start of construction on the project that is anticipated to run through November.

The previous facility on Pan American Boulevard was severely damaged by Hurricane Ian. The new operational facilities are “much-needed,” according to a city news release.

Temporary trailers will serve as administrative offices, and associated infrastructure improvements are key parts of the project.

Those improvements will provide designated space for maintenance operations, including secured storage for equipment, vehicles, and supplies.

A portion of the park’s parking lot off of Greenwood Avenue will be closed off and marked with construction fencing.

Park amenity access, including pavilion, playground, tennis courts, and boat ramps will remain open.

The nearby Scout House, Fire Station 82, Utilities Temporary Administration, and the North Port Art Center will remain open as well.

Park visitors are encouraged to use the parking lot off of Sam Shapos Way during this period.
