PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Senior Danika Frazier belted a tie-breaking, two-run homer in the fifth inning as visiting Olympia beat Illini Bluffs, 8-3, in high school softball on Friday.

The Spartans trailed by three runs after the first inning but rallied to win and improve their record to 26-1-1 while establishing themselves as a state threat in class 2A. Illini Bluffs, last year’s class 1A state runner-up, suffered its first loss of the season.

IB (19-1) got a first inning homer by Cora Ellison and jumped out to a 3-0 lead. But Oly tied the game 3-3 after three innings and would up scoring the final eight runs of the game. Both teams head to the postseason next week.

Metamora and Brimfield-Elmwood also won softball games. Normal Community, Dunlap, Brimfield-Elmwood and Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn were among the baseball winners Friday.
