On April 21, Dr. Elise Green was honored with the Longwood University Faculty/Staff Citizen Leader Award. This award recognizes faculty and staff members who exemplify what it means to be a citizen leader by employing their character, commitment to values, and sense of civic responsibility to make a significant contribution on behalf of the community for the common good.

At Longwood, Green is an Assistant Professor of English and Writing. She also serves as the Coordinator for Writing Infusion in Longwood’s core curriculum and is the Teaching Writing Consultant for the Center for Faculty Enrichment. Outside of Longwood, Green is an elected member of the School Board for Charlotte County Public Schools. She is also the scholarship chairperson for the Alpha Delta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, and she is an active member of her church, Midway Baptist, where she teaches Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

In describing what citizen leadership means to her, Green states, “citizen leadership is owning the responsibility you have to advocate for fellow members of your community. It is a lifestyle choice that should be lived out on a daily basis.”
