A cat was reunited with its mom during a live broadcast after vanishing during a devastating tornado, and their reunion was powerful.

According to KJRH News, just before a tornado hit Barnsdall, a small town near Tulsa, Oklahoma, resident Lindsay Crowder had to make some quick decisions, which made the reunion so much better. Take a look!

When a tornado was imminent, Lindsay had to leave her pets behind, taking the rest of her family to the town's shelter after the sirens went off.

"The sirens went off the first time. We went down to the shelter, then they [turned] off, so we thought it was over," Lindsay told the news station on Tuesday, May 14.

"So we came back home, and we were watching the radar pretty closely and saw that it was coming straight for us. So, we went back down to the shelter, and I am so glad that we did."

It was a good thing she went to the shelter since her home was completely destroyed, but she now worried about her pets.

"We didn't have our pets with us," Lindsay told the news station. "I honestly thought we were gonna come back and our house was still gonna be here."

When Lindsay was able to leave the town's tornado shelter, she saw the devastation to her down, and she began to search for her cat, a Siamese named Pikachu.

In a moving video, Lindsay is standing in the rubble of her home and calling out for her cat Pikachu, hoping that somehow she is safe.

In the clip, Lindsay calls "Here, kitty, kitty" a few times, and her sweet cat eventually climbs out from under a piece of the roof.

"I am so happy right now. This is just a house, and we can't replace her," Lindsay said.

How to Prepare Your Pets for Disasters

According to the American Red Cross , there are some things you can and should do to prepare your home in case of an emergency that will hopefully keep your pets safe.

The organization shares, "In an emergency, your pets will be even more dependent on you for their safety and well-being. Your family’s disaster plans must include your furry family members, too.”

During a disaster, the organization has three top tips, which include:

Make evacuation plans for yourself as well as your pets. “Many hotels and shelters do not accept animal guests, other than service animals,” the Red Cross shares.

You need to include supplies for your pets in your emergency kits . If you don’t have an emergency kit, you must make one and include your pets.

And, “If it’s not safe for you to stay in your home during an emergency, it’s not safe for them either.”

We're so glad Lindsay was able to reunite with her sweet cat.
