    Baseball: Warriors split with Holmen, Marshfield at Holmen Triangular

    After jumping out to a five-run lead in the top of the first inning, the Warriors let it slip away in an 11-7 loss to Holmen on Saturday.

    The Vikings plated three runs in the second inning, four runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to pull ahead.

    Wes DuCharme went 2-for-2 with a triple, scoring two runs and driving in a run for Waunakee. Others with hits included Tate Schmidt, Oliver Lee, Luke Hurlebaus, Zach King and Cole Krause. Hurlebaus also tripled for the Warriors.

    The two teams combined for seven errors in the high-scoring affair. Zach King was saddled with the loss for Waunakee.

    The Warriors also played Marshfield at the Holmen Triangular, winning 7-4 behind another big effort from Tate Schmidt, who went 2-for-4, scored a run and drove in three runs. Danny Cotter, Brady Barman, Lee, King, DuCharme, Bound and Lucas Stoen also had hits, with Barman, Lee and Stoen all driving in a run. Michael Pelzer got the win for Waunakee, going two and two-thirds innings and allowing just one unearned run.
