Danny DeVito Reveals His True Feelings For Wife Rhea Perlman 12 Years After Separation

Danny DeVito and his wife, Rhea Perlman, have been separated for over a decade, but their relationship is as strong as ever.

The actors, who married in 1982, announced their split in October 2012. Despite living in different homes, the two never divorced. In fact, in 2020, Rhea told Andy Cohen that she and Danny don’t plan on legally ending their marriage.

“What for?” she asked.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital , Danny shared that there is no animosity between him and his estranged wife. They’re actually quite close, and their family still comes first.

“We’re doing great. We’re sharing our granddaughter, our new granddaughter, and we see each other all the time,” he said.

The couple has spent the majority of their lives with each other. They first met in 1970, when Rhea was 23 and Danny was 25. Rhea moved into his Manhattan home only a few weeks later, and they remained together until their marriage and subsequent separation.

“ Well, you know, Rhea and I met, in well, 1970,” he shared. “We’ve been together for that long, and you grow together. It’s like you really know how each other’s feeling all the time.”

During their lives together, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman had three children ; Lucy, Grace, and Jake. They also starred in, produced, and directed dozens of films. So they’ve been by each other’s side for all the personal highs and lows of adulthood, and nothing brings two people closer than that.

The couple welcomed their first grandchild, Sinclair, in March 2023, and they have a second “on the way.”

“Yesterday was Lucy’s birthday,” he continued. “We were together for the birthday party, and we had a family party. We’re a tight family.”

According to Danny, he and Rhea are often together, and if they’re not, they’re probably talking. Their dynamics may have changed, but they’re just as bonded. Recently, they even went on a family vacation together.

“The whole family was together. I think that’s part of it,” Danny continued. “If you can do that, you know, no matter what your situation is, we don’t live together anymore, but we are together in a lot of ways.”
