    Wildfire smoke from Canada triggers air quality alerts across four US states

    Thousands of people in Canada have been forced to evacuate their homes due to massive wildfires in the British Columbia recently.

    An official report on Monday stated that the fire was burning just 2km (1.2 miles) north-west of Fort Nelson, a town which has seen approximately 4,000 people evacuated for their own safety.

    The "out of control" blaze has also impacted the US, with four states in America being issued with an air quality alert , with people's health and safety potentially at risk.

    Alerts were in effect in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, which was being put down to a "band of very heavy smoke from wildfires in northeast British Columbia."

    The situation is expected to improve throughout the day on Tuesday, though experts are advising people in affected areas to remain prepared for the worst

    As pointed out by NBC News, exposure to this type of particulate pollution can cause a number of health issues that could lead to serious illnesses. It can also increase the risk of asthma, lung cancer.

    This news comes just days after a town in the south of Texas seemingly recorded the hottest ever May temperature in Texas ' history with a "mind-blowing" and "dangerous" temperature .
