Charles T-Bob Hauger Choose Your Candidate 2024 News Staff Tue, 05/14/2024 - 3:32 pm   Charles T-Bob Hauger Current Occupation Self Employed (Real Estate/Construction) Family I have 4 daughters. Paige is a Volleyball Coach in Quanah, Megan is a DPS Trooper hereinJackCounty,Kim is a Volleyball Coach in Bryson, and Tracy is a Freshman in college at Tarleton State University in Stephenville studying nursing. Education I graduated Bryson High School in 1988. I graduated Vernon College Police Academy in 1992. I am currently enrolled in Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls as a sophomore to get a degree in Criminal Justice. Objectives Restore Honesty, Integrity, and Transparency to the Sheriff’s Office. Bring staffing levels up to full capacity. Currently 7 Deputies short. This must be a top priority. Ensure training for all employees is above state requirements. Develop an Area Deputy Program – Strategically place Deputies in certain areas of the county where they will live (Bryson, Perrin, Cundiff Area, Antelope area). We will pay them a housing allowance to get our Deputies back living in the county and not driving our vehicles out of county home every night. The cost savings on fuel, tires, maintenance, and exposure will pay for the housing allowance and reduce potential liability issues traveling out of county for no reason. Put a school resource officer in Bryson ISD and Perrin CISD. I have met with both school boards and superintendents. We have a plan to split the cost of these 2 positions so no one entity must cover the cost. Work with Jacksboro ISD and Jacksboro PD to find areas the Sheriff’s Office can enhance school safety already in place. Community Policing – Make sure Deputies are involved in our community and are being friendly and approachable. Make sure we are supporting and attending community events. Qualifications 16 years’ experience as a Deputy ALL Jack County as a patrol deputy, Area Deputy, Investigator, and on the Cross Timbers Narcotics Task Force. 34 years’ experience Jack County in Emergency Services (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement) 15 years’ business experience dealing with multimillion- dollar budges and supervising hundreds of employees. I have experience in ALL aspects of the office not just patrol (patrol, investigations, building budgets and operating within the budget, supervising employees, jailer, running command on major incidents, testifying in court, working with boards such as the commissioners court, working with tax paying citizens, and civil litigation. Already have a good relationship with most of the surrounding Sheriff’s around us that will jumpstart better working relationships. I volunteer for many organizations in this county. I am a natural leader. I have moved up in every organization I have been associated with both professionally and volunteer. I am a sophomore in college working on my degree in Criminal Justice. I will serve the citizens of Jack County for multiple terms and focus on Jack County. I have no ambitions to be popular on the internet. Jack County Tax Payers will pay my salary and I work focus on working for them! Benefit to voters I still think a handshake and looking people in the eyes is important. I am the only candidate that has lived here for years and understands the county voters because of my volunteer service in all areas of Jack County. I am the only candidate that has the experience in ALL aspects of the office not just patrol experience. I am the only candidate with any relevant Budget experience. The Sheriff’s budget is over 50% of the tax revenue of Jack County (over $3,000,000). The Sheriff needs to be business minded as well as law enforcement trained. I am the only candidate with any real supervisor experience. Sheriff’s Office has more employees than any other county office. When you combine my law enforcement experience and business experience (which it takes to run an office of this size), I have a combined experience of 38 years. I will work however many hours it takes to get our county cleaned up. I am a proven leader in everything I do. I know how to listen to people and not always talk. Major issues Change the culture/ reputation of the Office – I have been hitting on 3 things my entire campaign – Honest, Integrity, and Transparency. It is critical we gain the trust of the citizens back. Policy needs to be followed and consequences when it is not. School Safety – It is imperative that our kids are secure and safe at school. This is why I have already met with the Superintendents and School Boards of Bryson ISD and Perrin-Whitt CISD on what we could all do together to improve school safety. I will put a full time Deputy in both Bryson and Perrin Schools. I presented a plan to both boards showing the cost to do this and how we could split the cost even between the schools and the Sheriff’s office. Drugs in our community – This continues to be one of the biggest complaints I hear from the citizens while visiting during this election. To solve this problem, we must work together with the community to follow up on the complaints they have in their areas. We must be patrolling out in the county so we are really seeing what is going on. We have got to start being proactive instead of reactive.
