A New Batch of Marvel and Star Wars Shows Coming to 4K Blu-Ray With Extra Features

Physical media fans are in for a treat as Disney has announced it’s bringing four of its former Disney+ exclusive streaming shows to Blu-ray. On April 30, Disney will release complete box sets of shows from the Marvel and Star Wars universe, and it’s not just for those that are limited series.

These four shows are coming to 4K UHD and Blu-Ray:

    • Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: The Complete First Season
    • Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight: The Complete First Season
    • Obi-Wan Kenobi: The Complete Series
    • Andor: The Complete First Season

Given that Disney hasn’t confirmed whether the Marvel shows will be getting a second season, it’s a little odd to title the physical media releases as “the complete first season.” Andor is the only show that is getting a second, and final, season, while Obi-Wan was always going to be a limited series. All the physical media releases will include SteelBook packaging and collectible concept art cards. The SteelBook covers will feature art from Attila Szarka, who has previously contributed to physical releases of other Disney shows.

Disney has previously released some of its shows on Blu-ray, including two seasons of The Mandalorian, Loki Season 1, and WandaVision. This bodes well for physical media collectors as relying on a streaming service isn't always smart. We've seen numerous examples of content getting pulled from streaming services, so bringing them to Blu-ray is a nice way to ensure preservation. Plus, you get significantly better quality video playback when playing a disk directly.

    Disney

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier are leading right into two upcoming MCU movies - Thunderbolts and Captain America: Brave New World. But don’t expect any of the bonus features to tease those. Here is everything you’ll find on the two Blu-Ray discs for the show:

    • Featurette: Cap’s Shield
    • Gag Reel
    • Deleted Scenes - “Flight Lesson”, “Still Not Funny”
    • Assembled: The Making of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

    Moon Knight Blu-Ray Bonus Features

    Disney

It’s not clear when or even if Oscar Isaac will return to the MCU, as Marvel has a lot on its plate right now. Here are the bonus features for Moon Knight’s physical release:

    • Featurette: Egyptology
    • Gag Reel
    • Deleted Scenes - “Don’t Go There” and “Breaking the Cycle”
    • Assembled: The Making of Moon Knight

    Obi-Wan Blu-Ray Bonus Features

    Disney

Obi-Wan’s Blu-ray release won’t include any deleted scenes, much to the dismay of all Star Wars prequel fans. However, we are getting a sizeable amount of deleted scenes and featurettes. Here is everything included in the Obi-Wan 4K Blu-Ray release:

    • Featurette: Duels of Fate: Obi-Wan vs Vader
    • Featurette: The Dark Times: Villains
    • Featurette: Designing The Galaxy
    • Director’s Commentary

Andor Season 1 Blu-Ray Bonus Features

    Disney

Like Obi-Wan, Andor’s physical release won’t include any deleted scenes either. Instead, you’re getting five featurettes:

    • Ferrix Part 1: Imperial Occupation
    • Ferrix Part 2: Fight the Empire
    • Aldhani: Rebel Heist
    • Coruscant: Whispers of Rebellion
    • Narkina 5: One Way Out

All of the 4K Blu-Ray releases will include English audio in Dolby Atmos and Dolby 2.0 Descriptive format, along with dubs for Spanish and French in Dolby 5.1 Digital. The standard Blu-Ray release will include English 5.1 DTS-HDMA and Dolby 2.0 Descriptive audio, with Spanish and French in Dolby 5.1 Digital. You can start pre-ordering the physical editions from retailers on March 12, 2024.
