Riverside Girls Track Continues to Put in All the Effort

(Oakland, IA) – Riverside girl’s track and field has just a few hours left until they are able to put in all their effort in the biggest meet of the season. Just last Thursday, the girls came together and all pushed forward to get their best times and push one another to earn that top spot on the podium. Head Coach Jared Hoffman has seen his girls put forward all of their efforts in every meet this season, and clearly, that hard work has paid off.

The Bulldogs feature six team events and three individual runners who will be competing in Des Moines. Riverside’s relay teams in the 4×400-meter, 4×100-meter, 4×200-meter, 4×800-meter, 800-meter sprint medley, and distance medley will all be out on the blue oval and feature some top three seeds. On the individual side, Carly Henderson will be competing in the 4×400-meter hurdles as the #1 seed, and both Sophia Taylor and Sophia Fenner will be competing in the shot put.

The nerves will be running through some of the first-time state runners for every team. One advantage that Riverside holds is that they have multiple returning state qualifiers from last year to help kick out the nerves of the younger first-time qualifiers.

Coach Hoffman is looking for the best out of his girls with the goal of medaling in every single event. There is no pressure for every girl to earn a medal by the end of the week, but just give your best effort at the meet and compete beyond your expectations.

Bulldog girls’ track and field continues to see successful track and field seasons. That comes from the athletes themselves who are involved in just about every sport that Riverside offers. The girls put in the work in the summer to make sure that they are staying in shape and stay disciplined all year around.

Riverside will jump into action in the state track and field meet in Des Moines that runs from Thursday, May 16th through Saturday, May 18th. You can find all the updates on 96.5 KSOM and westerniowatoday.com.
