Patagonia is hosting a film screen and gear swap at HK Brewing on May 16th. This is a great opportunity to donate old climbing gear, support the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance, or to just join fellow community members to watch a rad film.

The event will be held at HK Brewing (370 Aspen Avenue, Salt Lake City) on Thursday, May 16th at 5pm.

Here's what the event details say about the evening:

"Film subjects, Mariana Mendoza and Miguel Casar, are attracted to proud, challenging boulders and approach the sport with passion and dedication. At the same time, they believe that climbing hard is not the only thing that matters. As lifelong social justice advocates, they ask: How can we use climbing to cultivate joy and connection in our communities? Can climbing create opportunities for meaningful growth? How can we use climbing to shape the world we want to see?

The goal of this film is to highlight the power of the climbing community and the support that we give each other, as opposed to the more common narrative that focuses on a lone climber pushing the limits of the possible. Patagonia strives to share stories of climbers who were committed on the wall and off, who are dedicated to climbing and to their communities. Mariana and Miguel represent this idea through their climbing, work, and personal lives.

Gear will be taken in as a donation for the Gear Swap to help fundraise for Salt Lake Climbers Alliance (SLCA). Those who donate gear will receive credit to spend on another item at the swap. You do not need to donate gear to participate in the swap or film. All proceeds collected from the event will benefit SLCA.

Gear Swap will begin at 5pm with the film beginning at 7:30pm."

    Hope to see you there!
