    Bill requiring financial literacy course for Illinois high schoolers passes Senate

    I graduated in '78 and had two separate courses, Home Economics (freshman n sophomore) and Work Program (junior n senior). The only problem was they were elective courses, not mandatory. I think [as I'm sure a lot of people think the same], that this bill is a good thing, a wonderful thing, a "lets get back to true education" thing. Unfortunately, I also believe that once this bill is put into action, it's going to be bombarded with accusations of "systemic racism" and such (like ACT's and SAT's, if not education as a whole), and be amended back to an elective course if not repealed altogether...which would be a bad thing.

    Oh hell I had that course 30+ yrs ago when I was in Highschool.
