If EVs are a path to lower greenhouse gas emissions, the spread of Chinese EVs may be the key to success. Although high tariffs have slowed exports to the US and other countries, Chinese companies have started to work around these. According to The Wall Street Journal, China-based Nio has begun that process. CEO William Li told the media, “We can enter the global market, and in the process of doing so we will have some changes. We can look more for local partners.” Climatecrisis247 believes that it is only a matter of time before China EVs make their way into the EU and US. One way to enter the US may be to make these vehicles in Mexico and send them into America using NAFTA provisions. Transportation remains the major cause of greenhouse gas emissions in the US. More EVs would help lower them .

    Anti-Climate Lender -JP Morgan’s Role

Florida now has laws that stop state agencies from considering climate issues when making energy policies. Offshore wind turbines cannot be built in the waters off the state’s coastline. Brooke Alexander-Goss, a Florida official of the Sierra Club, told The New York Times, “Allowing this bill to become law jeopardizes the health and safety of all Floridians, further proving that his top priority is to appease large corporations and fossil fuel companies.” Climatecrisis247 believes that this decisions was expected, despite the violent affects of climate change on Florida. The larger issue is whether other states run by conservatives will do the same which could substantially change the chances that the US can reach climate targets.

    Climate Causes Mental Problems

Research published in Lancet Neurology titled “Climate change and disorders of the nervous system “, points out that “evidence suggests that the incidence, prevalence, and severity of many nervous system conditions (eg, stroke, neurological infections, and some mental health disorders) can be affected by climate change.” Climatecrisis247 believes this in one in a long line of studies about the link between climate change and disease and illnesses. Most cover physical affects like heat stroke, malnutrition and thirst. Perhaps the focus is moving toward the brain and mental issues.

    The Pope And Climate Change

The Pope said “greed” was a major cause of the climate crisis. According to Vatican News, He said, “The wealthier nations, around 1 billion people, produce more than half the heat trapping pollutants. On the contrary, the 3 billion poorer people contribute less than 10%, yet they suffer 75% of the resulting damage.” Climatecrisis247 believes the Pope is right.
