Where can Georgia make biggest recruiting splash this weekend?

This is a big weekend of recruiting for Georgia on the recruiting trail. Some key targets will be on campus looking for coach Kirby Smart for the annual scavenger hunt visit weekend.

There are a few major battles in focus for Georgia on the recruiting trail this weekend. There are three recruitments that could be entering a crescendo, there are a few that are close to being done and there are a few where Georgia is restarting.

Where can Georgia make the biggest splash? There are three places.

Loosening the USC’s grip on 4-star edge Isaiah Gibson

USC landed the elite Warner Robins edge back in March after a visit to Los Angeles. Georgia was a heavy contender before Gibson announced his commitment to the Trojans.

Gibson is expected in Athens on Saturday. That will be the first visit to Athens for Gibson since he committed to the Trojans.

Any time a prospect committed elsewhere gets on campus, it’s an opportunity. With it being an unofficial visit, this bodes well as the Bulldogs will likely also get an official visit.

It’s an opportunity to plant flip seeds. When Gibson’s official comes around the Bulldogs could be looking to close the deal rather than starting from scratch.

Enter the picture for elite DB Trey McNutt

Georgia offered the No. 26 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings in the winter. He hasn’t made a trip to Athens yet.

This weekend is the first opportunity for McNutt to get a look at what Georgia has to offer up close. McNutt spoke highly of the Bulldogs’ pedigree earlier this year. Georgia defensive backs coach Donte Williams is the lead piece of the puzzle for Georgia’s relationship with McNutt.

“I like the team, they’re just a powerhouse,” McNutt said back on Feb. 1. “I like the coaching staff. The coach that moved from USC, Donte Williams, moved to Georgia. He was recruiting me there too. He’s just trying to bring me on. It’s all about taking the process in and building these relationships.”

Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan have been the programs with the most juice in this recruitment. McNutt taking a visit as he works through his top eight is a big one, especially with it being an unofficial visit.

This is Georgia’s chance to strike up a conversation.

Move the needle with the offensive playmakers

Georgia will have three wide receivers on campus. Four-stars Travis Smith , CJ Wiley , Phillip Bell and Marcus Harris will be on campus this weekend.

Bell and Harris will be on official visits.

Georgia has a wide receiver committed in the class of 2025 now in four-star Thomas Blackshear . The Bulldogs have one less spot available.

If Georgia makes a splash with this trio on over the weekend, it could mean a timeline could begin to take shape quickly.

Georgia is also heavily involved with four-stars Talyn Taylor , Travis Smith and Jayvon Boggs . Eugene Hilton , Sam Turner and Maurice Gleaton are also names of note.

This weekend is the kickoff of a summer of having major targets on campus. Blackshear’s commitment could have sped the urgency a bit with pass catchers with Georgia in their sights.

Georgia is also in the hunt for a major running back. Bo Jackson will be on campus for an official visit starting on Friday. Jackson was on campus in the spring and the Bulldogs moved the needle heavily during that trip in April.

Georgia has one running back committed in Bo Walker already. Jackson is the first of the trio of uncommitted running back targets ( Ousmane Kromah and Todd Robinson ) on campus for official visits.

He’s a name to watch.

Getting five-star offensive tackle David Sanders back on campus is a win for Georgia as well. The Bulldogs have another chance to leave an impression on Sanders as well as his family.

Sanders has taken numerous visits to Georgia, getting him on an unofficial ahead of a potential official visit in a win.
