This $7 Fluoride-Free Whitening Toothpaste Works So Well, Someone Asked Me If I Had Veneers

When I first found myself on Amazon shopping for toothpaste , admittedly, a brighter smile wasn’t the end goal. I was actually searching for a fluoride- and paraben-free product without so many harsh chemicals and came across Hello’s Antiplaque + Whitening Toothpaste ($15 for a 3-pack), which I’d recognized from stores. With over 5K reviews, it had an impressive 4.8-star rating, so I settled and added it to my cart without doing much digging.

However, just two weeks later, I began to notice improvements whenever I looked in the mirror. Hello’s Antiplaque + Whitening Toothpaste was whitening my teeth in a way that no product had in the past—and trust me, I’ve tried every strip , gel, and mouthwash imaginable. I’ve been self-conscious about my coffee-stained teeth for years, often wondering whether they were a light shade of yellow or just an off-off-white. I even approached my dentist about getting them professionally whitened but never followed through with making the appointment.

The real reason I’m raving about this under-the-radar product is because recently, I discovered that it wasn’t just me who was noticing a huge change. After meeting a colleague for coffee (ugh, see?), the conversation somehow shifted to the topic of veneers. I told her that I would get them if the process didn’t seem so intense, to which she responded “Um, you already look like you have veneers—your teeth are so white!”

The compliment was all I needed to go back and order another tube of Hello Antiplaque Toothpaste. This time, I carefully looked at all the ingredients and their benefits—refreshing farm-grown peppermint, tea tree oil to improve bad breath, moisturizing coconut oil—along with what it doesn’t have, which is dyes, peroxide, SLS sulfates, parabens, microbeads, triclosan, and gluten. It’s also vegan, fluoride-free, and, judging from the reviews, has a very large fanbase.

“My son put me on to this toothpaste,” one happy customer wrote on Amazon. “I am a tea drinker and have noticed a significant difference in the white color of my teeth since using it! I like the product and the taste isn’t overbearing. Buy it!”

Others noted that it’s gentle enough to use if you have some sensitivity.

“It definitely has helped my oral health a lot!!” said another reviewer. “I’m extremely sensitive in my gums and teeth and this is Way better than the regular leader brands out there in all areas even with pain caused by sensitivity and crutches tartar accumulation and prevent it as well … I recommend to everyone for sure.”

Additional comments pointed out that it tastes refreshing without being too minty, it doesn’t burn like other toothpastes, and one tube lasts for more than three months. Thankfully, when scooping up Hello’s toothpaste, you can choose between a solo option ($7) or order a three-pack , so you’ll be stocked for while.

I will add that my favorite review of the bunch was someone talking about the whitening benefits and how much they like that Hello’s toothpaste “is not a part of the media hype.” It’s really a well-kept secret—and, unfortunately for them, I’m hyping it up now!
