Circleville — Pickaway County Public Health is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Drive to Succeed grant to fund driver’s education scholarships for local teenagers.

This initiative aims to provide young drivers with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the roads safely while also easing the financial burden associated with obtaining a driver’s license. PCPH received $61,560 in grant funding for scholarships to be awarded between July of 2024 and June of 2026.

The grant, provided by the Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO), underscores the importance of investing in the education and safety of our youth.

With this funding, PCPH will be able to offer scholarships to eligible teens in Pickaway County, covering the costs of driver’s education courses, including classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training.

The driver’s education scholarships provided by OTSO will not only equip teens with the necessary skills to obtain their driver’s licenses but also instill in them a sense of responsibility and awareness on the road. By investing in their education and safety today, we are investing in a safer future for our community.

PCPH extends its sincere gratitude to OTSO for their generous support and commitment to youth education and safety in Pickaway County.

In other news, PCPH has been selected to receive grant funding from the Ohio EPA for mosquito control. Pickaway County was one of 58 local health departments and municipalities across 47 Ohio counties.

PCPH was awarded $25,000 to continue mosquito control efforts. These efforts will include surveillance, outreach and education, and a tire amnesty event.

The grants are issued in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Health’s effort to mitigate the potential for an outbreak of mosquito-borne viruses.
