    The local runoff election in Burnet County features two races – the tax assessor- collector and county commissioner – for the May 28 election.

    Early voting is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 20-24 in Burnet at the Texas AgriLife Extension auditorium, 607 N. Vandeveer. Also, early voting is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 2024, in Marble Falls at the Texas Tech University building, 806 Steve Hawkins Parkway.

    Election day is May 28. Election day voting sites are in Bertram, Briggs, Burnet, Granite Shoals, Marble Falls (two locations) and Spicewood.

    Two Republican candidates for county tax assessor-collector are DeAnne Fisher and Susan Allen; and the two Republican candidates for Precinct 3 Burnet County commissioner are Chad Collier and Homer D. Will.

    No Democrats filed to run for the positions, so the winner of the run-off will take his or her seat after being sworn in on Jan. 1, 2025.

    In higher office, both Democratic and Republican parties are holding primary run-off elections in Burnet County. Also, early voting will be conducted for those races May 20 through 24.

    The Democratic runoff will include two candidates aspiring to be nominated for U.S. Representative District 31, Brian Walbridge and Stuart Whitlow, and two candidates for Justice, 3rd Court of Appeals, Place 2, Maggie Ellis and Edward Smith.

    The Republican runoff will include two candidates for Texas Board of Education, District 10, Tom Maynard and Mary Bone.

    According to the Burnet County Elections Administration, the last day to apply for a ballot by mail (received, not postmarked) is May 17.

    The last day to receive a voted ballot by mail is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 28, if the carrier envelope is not postmarked or 5 p.m. May 29, if carrier envelope is postmarked by 7 p.m. at the location of the election on May 28, unless military or overseas voter deadlines apply.
