In California and Nevada we’re down to just two resorts still open. Palisades Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain. No surprise there. Two of the biggest resorts with the most infrastructure and support.

But did they also get the most snow? Let’s check it out.

Palisades currently sits at 397’’ total for the season and Mammoth is at 367’’. While I think it’s safe to say we got the last of the storms and pow days a couple weeks ago, you never really know.

These are pretty solid snow totals for these resorts, but let’s see how they stack up against the rest of the field.

According to data taken from the resorts’ mountain reports, it looks like Sugar Bowl and Boreal accumulated the most snow this year.

    Sugar Bowl: 485’’

    Boreal: 413”

It seems like the most snowfall dropped near Donner Pass, northwest of Lake Tahoe.

The rest of the resorts around Tahoe didn’t break 400”.

    Mt. Rose: 392”

    Lee Canyon: 221”

    Northstar: 341”

    Kirkwood: 370”

    Heavenly: 226”

    Sierra at Tahoe: 346”

    Bear Valley: 324”

    Tahoe Donner: 284”

    Homewood: 348”

    Dodge Ridge: 372’

    June Mountain: 203”

    China Peak: 365”

    Snow Valley: 201”

    Snow Summit: 175”

    Big Bear: 175”

The three big Southern California mountains posted some good numbers this year. It was their second highest snow totals across all three resorts (Snow Valley, Snow Summit, Big Bear) since they started recording their data in 1999.

Lee Canyon’s totals were also well above their average snowfall of 129”.

The solid snow totals all over the state are a really positive thing for drought concerns and water usage. Lake Tahoe is poised to be full for the first time since 2019 thanks to two consistent winters.

The beaches may be small this year, but the rivers will be running strong and it’s a step in the right direction for the health of the area.
