Miami has made its interest clear in 2026 quarterbacks like Dia Bell , Noah Grubbs and Quinn Murphy , but as spring turns into summer, Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County On300 quarterback DJ Bordeaux is emerging as one of Miami’s priority targets in next year’s class.

Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson visited Bordeaux’s school last week to check up on the No. 279 overall prospect and No. 22 quarterback in next year’s recruiting class and has developed a strong relationship with the 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect. Bordeaux will attend a Miami prospect camp this summer to work out for Dawson on Miami’s campus after the coach watched Boredeaux practice earlier this month, and Clemson and UCF have pushed hard as well. Both visited Douglasville this spring and are expected to host Bordeaux on their respective campuses in June.

“Miami is definitely top two (along with UCF),” Bordeaux said. “They’re top two for me most definitely. I love Miami. I just want to get down there, see the campus, take my mom down there just to see everything and see all of the coaches. Me and coach Dawson, we have the kind of relationship where all we’re waiting on is for me to get down there.”

Bordeaux said he feels he has a “natural” relationship with Dawson and is able to have casual, relaxed conversations with Miami’s offensive coordinator. He’s also friends with four-star Miami 2025 quarterback commit Luke Nickel who he played 7-on-7 football with this past spring, and wants to check out South Florida’s vibe this summer. He adds that he wants “to talk to as many coaches as I can and build a relationship with them.”

“I want to see if it feels like home,” Bordeaux said. “I’m big on seeing if it feels like home, because if it doesn’t feel right, I don’t think I could do it. But based off me and coach Dawson’s relationship, it’s feeling really right.”

He wants to camp at and visit different programs this summer and hopes to commit by week three or four of his junior season.

    CaneSport’s Take

Bordeaux could become a name to watch this summer if he performs well at Miami’s prospect camp as the Hurricanes continue their search for a 2026 quarterback, although Clemson can help its chances by offering him soon. However, the Tigers are known for offering players late in recruiting cycles and only extending committable offers, which means Clemson may not rush. Bell and Murphy are also looking to attend Miami prospect camps this summer and could work out alongside Bordeaux.
