Investigation ongoing after man found dead over the weekend

South Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers spent part of their Sunday, May 19, 2024, hanging up flyers, seeking help in a death investigation.

Around 6am Saturday, May 18th, the body of 40 year old Justin Scott Grooms, identified by the Coroner, was found off Highway 14 near Smith Road in Greenville County. Grooms body lay on the northbound side of Hwy 14.

The flyer distributed shows the exact location of the discovery.  That flyer has been shared in the local news section of our website.

Troopers are asking anyone with information, no detail is too small, to contact Highway Patrol by dialing *HP or Crime Stoppers at 23Crime.com.

Previously reported : An investigation is ongoing after man was found dead in the Upstate over the weekend. The Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded around 630 Saturday morning to a report of a body found near Highway 14 and Smith Road in Landrum.

The Greenville County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as 40 year old, Justin Scott Grooms.

Officials are still working to determine has cause and manner of death. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
